The process\u00a0maximises \u00a0the information learnt about the customer per dollar spent.\u00a0It enables\u00a0the highest return on investment -versus- risk.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not actually a minimal product, rather it is an iterative process of <strong>idea generation, prototyping, presentation, data collection, analysis and learning, <\/strong>where the focus is on minimising the total time spent on each iteration.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">&#8220;<i>The minimum viable product is that version of a new product which allows a team to collect the maximum amount of validated learning about customers with the least effort.<\/i>&#8220;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The product is typically presented\u00a0to a subset of possible customers, such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Early_adopter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">early adopters<\/a>\u00a0that are thought to be more forgiving, more likely to give valuable feedback, and able to grasp a product&#8217;s vision from an early prototype or marketing information.\u00a0The process is iterated until a desirable\u00a0product or market fit\u00a0is obtained (or until the product is deemed to be non-viable).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1122\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1122\" style=\"width: 319px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1122\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mobisoft.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/MVP-logos-454x375.jpg\" alt=\"Minimum Viable Products\" width=\"319\" height=\"263\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1122\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">All started out as Minimum Viable Products<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Notable examples of MVP websites are Yahoo, where back in 1994, two students put together a simple list of their favourite web links, or the WordPress website about group buying that later evolved into Groupon.<\/p>\n<p>Other products which consisted of very basic features include the first iPhone which had no \u2018search\u2019 or cut-and-paste functionality, or Virgin airlines, where they only had one route.\u00a0Others have simply visualised an idea, like how the founders of Dropbox created a video that showed potential investors how it would work before they\u2019d even built it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.startuplessonslearned.com\/2009\/08\/minimum-viable-product-guide.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><cite>http:\/\/www.startuplessonslearned.com\/2009\/08\/minimum-viable-product-guide.html<\/cite><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In our previous article, we talked about how Mobisoft approaches product development, focussing on a minimal viable product. \u00a0MVP is a strategy targeted at avoiding building products that customers do not want, by building\u00a0just those core features that allow a\u00a0product to be deployed, and no more.
